Award Nominations


Dear Colleagues:

We are excited to announce the Annual Mississippi CONFERENCE for Addiction Professionals is scheduled for April 25-28, 2023, at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg, MS. In an effort to acknowledge dedication and hard work in the field of alcohol and drug use prevention, treatment, and recovery support across our state, the conference planning committee is accepting nominations for our two annual awards.

Please review the criteria below for award nominees:

  • Herbert L Loving Award of Excellence is given to individuals who have exemplified excellence in their work and actively contributed innovative and progressive ideas to the field of substance use prevention, treatment, and/or recovery support.
  • Elizabeth C Powers Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have provided a lifetime of significant contributions to the field of substance use prevention, treatment, and/or recovery support through a long and distinguished career.
  • Retired Honoree for individuals in your organization who have retired in the last year to be honored for their work.
  • Deceased Honoree for individuals in your organization who have passed away in the last year to be honored for their work.
  • Shane Garrard Lionheart Service Award is awarded to individuals who most embody a spirit of courage and love in the face of uncertainty, pushing beyond limitations to help others overcome addiction, mental illness, trauma, and/or obstacles that threaten their ability to live a healthy, productive life. This award recipient is chosen by FTC Prevention Services.

Additionally, we would like to honor those in your organization who have retired or passed away in the last year. We have included an honoree form to be completed to identify those individuals.

All nominations must be submitted online no later than March 30, 2023. For your convenience, you may submit them online (preferred): www.themscap.com or via email.

Once award recipients are selected, you may be contacted to help provide additional information to supplement the awards program presentation held during the luncheon at the conference on Thursday, April 27th.
